Beyond the Taliban: Afghanistan for Tourists?
Posted by Saabira Chaudhuri on Wednesday, November 4, 2009In a push to highlight Afghanistan’s natural beauty, the UN has produced a video showcasing the hiking trails, breathtaking scenery, local sports and Buddhist niches (what’s left of them after the Taliban attack) that tourists can expect on a visit to the war torn region.
While the video is unlikely to do much for tourism, it does highlight much of what is needed to make the country more viable for tourists: roads, accommodation and of course regional stability.
