Fearing Jagan, Congress keeps hands off Karnataka!

SocialTwist Tell-a-Friend

It has been a very tempting offer for Congress from the Reddy brothers — G Karunakar Reddy and G Janardhana Reddy! The mining barons from Bellary had offered the Congress party the support of 60 MLAs to topple the B.S Yeddyurappa-led Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Karnataka. It would have been easy for Congress, which has 77 legislators in the 224-member  (Plus one nominated member) state assembly. But Congress president Sonia Gandhi decided to reject the offer because her advisors told her that the move would strengthen Jaganmohan Reddy – son of late Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y.S. Rajashekhara Reddy – who has been pressurizing the party leadership to appoint him at the top post in the state, replacing current chief minister K. Rosaiah. Jagan Reddy and the Bellary Reddys are reportedly known to be close business associates. So,  for the Congress leaders in Andhra Pradesh, a state government at the mercy of Reddy brothers in the neighboring Karnataka was an absolute ‘no no’.

The Congress leaders, who are in the know of the developments, claim that Gandhi had rejected the offer from the Reddy brothers “simply because she was not in favour of breaking a party to get power.”

Besides, Congress leaders in Karnataka also were not very keen for such a move. According to the party MLAs – who were in national capital for the last two days -, accepting Reddy brothers’ support to form a government would be “suicidal” for the Congress’ future in the state. They say such a government would not last for long as Reddy brothers are too demanding. The party, they say, is not ready for a mid-term election because it might lead to Yeddyurappa taking advantage of the “martyr image” he would acquire in the current political game. The Congress leaders also are confident that the Reddy brothers would force the BJP leadership to remove Yeddyruappa ultimately!

The congress president has taken a very good stand which will yield very good results for the party in future,Yediyurappa is reaping what he sowed. The “operation kamala” by which he took MLAs from both congress and Janata Dal with the money power of Reddy’s could not repay the debt to them which they are demanding now.
The congress must conduct organisational elections at all levels in Karnataka and groom new elected leaders who interact well with the AAM AADMI.In addition to this congress must not admit any defectors to it and allow loyal congress workers grow with the masses and emerge as leaders to make the party stronger at all levels.

Good stand by Sonia Gandhi or next the Reddy brothers and jagan will say India is theirs. They will be Kauravas here. We AAM janata will be sacrificed, kick their money and them also. Money cannot buy people’s trust.

      Sahana….

you just dont know what you are talking about. There is no comparison between Jagan and Reddy brothers. In AP democratic aspirations of people and MLAs were being crushed by the congress high command, just with over jelousy on the sympathy raisd in fevour of YSR family. Its an insult to telugu people.Ýes , Indeed AP is Jagan’s.People want him as CM and as well as MLAs.This affection is not earned by Jagans money, but from his capabilit and interaction with people. We dont want any puppet chie minister ,who dance to the tunes of high command and stay in drawing room ,instead of going into the public.Jagan is the darling of peoples heart.
