Mumbai: How can the impact of philanthropic funding be measured? Management consultancy Bain & Co. surveyed 180 wealthy individuals in four major cities, as well as leaders of more than 40 non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and presented the findings in its third annual India Philanthropy Report on Wednesday. “It is important for NGOs to agree measurement metrics and communication frequency at the outset with donors,” said Arpan Sheth, Bain partner and author of the report. About two-thirds of the donors surveyed say NGOs can improve the impact they are trying to make on lives. If that happens, 26% of donors will increase their philanthropic contributions. We present some of the survey’s key highlights.
