Mercedes-Benz introduces new C-class at Rs40.9 lakh
The company said it had to advance the launch as it ran out of stocks for the previous generation model
New Delhi: Luxury car maker Mercedes-Benz India Pvt. Ltd on Tuesday launched the new generation C-class sedan at ₹ 40.9 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
The company said it had to advance the launch as it ran out of stocks for the previous generation model. To begin with, only the petrol variant of the car will be available in the market; the diesel version will be launched in April 2015.
Eberhard Kern, managing director and chief executive, Mercedes-Benz India, said the C-class has always been a best-seller and the new model interprets a new standard in modern luxury.
“It comes with qualities usually reserved for higher-class automobiles--ecologically, technologically and also with regard to comfort and driving pleasure," Kern said.
The company claims the car is the lightest in the segment and boasts a fuel economy of 14.74km per litre.
The company has sold more than 20,000 units of the C-class in India. It sold 9,003 units in calendar year 2013 compared with 6,840 units in calendar year 2012. During January-September this year, it has sold 7,529 units, a jump of 16% year-on-year.
